The Project

When the New York Thruway’s selected contractor secured the contract rights to perform traffic surface improvements on one of the busiest bridges in the country, the Tappan Zee Bridge, they enlisted Torus Solutions to provide a project management services to develop a plan to mitigate risk on this high-profile effort.

The project included a $1,300 contractual penalty each minute for failure to perform and open the bridge to its full capacity for morning commute.

The Strategy

• The result was a profitable delivery of the project even with less than ideal weather and high-traffic conditions – all with zero late performance penalties imposed after more than 60 work shifts
